Travel

Please see the Bone and Tooth Society website for full travel information and useful links.

By air
Birmingham is serviced by Birmingham International Airport.
The airport is used by many airlines, but the two main budget ones are Flybe and Ryanair. Flybe has many direct flights to Birmingham including those from Belfast, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.

By train
There are regular train services to Birmingham from all parts of the country and from continental Europe via the EuroTunnel.

By road
Birmingham is centrally located to the M1, the M5, the M6 and the M40. Journey time approximately 2 hours from London.

Approaching from the NW or SE along the M6, leave at Junction 6 (signposted Birmingham Central) to join the A38 (M). At the end of the motorway keep to the right, go over a flyover, then through three underpasses to join the A38 Bristol Road. The University is on your right two and a half miles from the City centre.

Approaching from the M42 North, leave at Junction 8 to join the M6 northbound and follow the instructions above.

Approaching from the SW, leave the M5 at Junction 4 (signposted Birmingham SW) to join the A38. The University is on the left of the A38 Bristol Road approximately eight miles from the motorway.

The approach to the University through the southern suburbs can be confusing. From the M40, it is easier to turn south on the M42 and leave at Junction 1, heading north on the A38 Bristol Road. The University is approximately eight miles from the motorway.

Car parking

Parking on campus will cost £0.80 per day, pay and display, with access to the South Car Park being via the East Gate. Both the South Car Park and the East Gate are marked on the map. Free parking is available at Chamberlain Hall for those staying on campus.

For more detailed travel information please see the Visitors’ Map.

Oxford bone meetings

Finally, if there is sufficient interest, we will be organising transport at the end of the meeting to take delegates to Oxford for the Workshop on Advances in Molecular Pharmacology (6-7 July) and International Symposium on Paget’s Disease (8-9 July) - see details on the web at www.paget.org.uk. Please could you let me know if you are interested?
