General Information

Venue

The meeting will take place in the Renold Building at the University of Manchester. It is an ideal location, situated on the Sackville Street site in the city centre, just 5 minutes walk from Piccadilly Station. We have booked accommodation at two halls of residence, both of which are a short stroll from the meeting venue.

Location

Manchester is one of the great European cities and the university’s main campus is located a short distance from the city centre. The city’s architecture represents one of the high points of Victorian achievement. The modern city is a major centre of banking, commerce and manufacturing. It has a highly cosmopolitan atmosphere and its cultural life is internationally renowned.

If you travel by rail, Manchester Piccadilly is the closest station, with the Fairfield Street/London Road exit being just a few minutes walk from the Renold Building, the venue for the conference.
If you travel by air, Manchester International Airport is approximately 10 miles from the Renold Building. A taxi from the airport will cost around £15. Alternatively, make use of the rail link between the Airport and Piccadilly railway station, which runs every 15 minutes and a single ticket costs approximately £3. The station is adjacent to terminal two and is clearly signposted within all terminals.

Car parking
There is a large pay and display car park nearby.

For more detailed information about how to get to the University by rail, coach, car, or on foot, and a map, please see the meeting website or the University website at www.conference.manchester.ac.uk/meetingmanchester/location.
